Minoru Ohsawa

Composer, multi-instrumentalist, improviser and poet

Minoru Ohsawa began learning guitars(electric, folk, classic), music theory, composition and improvisation by himself at the age of 18. The greatest musical influence on him was Progressive music(Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation etc.)and classical music composers (Bach, Debussy etc.).

Regarding guitar practice, he studied so much the technique of John Petrucci, Nuno Bettencourt and Manuel Barueco through CDs and Videos(VHS, haha:-) So he sees them as his guitar teachers(smile.)

He studied at Paris CNR. (unfortunately, learned nothing there about guitar and music bacause of everyday work just to live on and buy instruments and gears, except for Mme.Cao's Mugicology. She gave me her precious time to teach French Writng to me, having difficulty for living from poverty. Thankful from my heart.)

His original music style such as innovative technique, genre crossover etc. was explored by himself through his own musical experience.

He decided to be a musician inspired by the album "Scenes from a memory" of Dream Theater at the age of eighteen.

Up to now, he had taught the classical guitar at CNR of Boulogne Billaincourt and CRD of Orsay.
